Formal studio lighting sounds like a daunting and expensive commitment, but with a basic understanding of lighting techniques, anyone can adapt and modify light for creative portraiture.

The class will explore the use of hot lights, strobes and natural lighting as well as reflectors, fill flash, wink lights and proper metering. David will also demonstrate how to communicate with models while naturally posing them for formal and informal portraits.

Participants will have ample opportunity to work with models on shooting assignments, fine tuning skills and gaining confidence in dealing with all types of lighting situations.

David will discuss the technical aspects of lens choice, meters, lighting equipment as well as the varieties of B&W and color films available for interpreting the portrait.
